One of my students challenged me to paint some dinosaurs. I decided to one up him and paint a zombie dinosaur. With that I decided to make a mash up of Jurassic Park and the Walking Dead. I call it Walking With Dead Dinosaurs.

Here is my latest tribute to Castle entitled: Caskett, named after the fan group combination of Castle plus Beckett. As I was developing the concept I thought it would be fun to have the pages of the book fold into a heart over their shoulders.

Here is a quick sketch demo I did with my students recently. It starts as a drawing with the wacom tablet. Then a rough sepia tone image. The rough brush strokes are smoothed using the mixer brush. The painting is refined using the bristle brushes. Colors are added using hue and saturation adjustments layers.

My students are in the process of creating an art blog. Their first entries are inspired by Capcom characters. They challenged me to participate and gave me the character Nemesis from Resident Evil. Here is my version of the character.

Here’s an updated version of a t-shirt design I made a while back. I wanted to make my own spin on the Han Shot First Debate. (Because HE DID SHOOT FIRST!) I’ve submitted it to Riptapparel.com We’ll see if they pick it up. If not I’ll release it in my Rebubble Store in a few weeks.

In Return of the Jedi, Princess Leia described her mother as being “sad.” This may not jive with the prequels but I wanted to capture a bit of that moment with this illustration. Here Padme ponders the burden of carrying twins and the revelation that her husband has turned to the dark side.

Farewell Blair Butler, farewell Fresh Ink, and farewell G4. We had fun, we had a few laughs and now it seems your time on television is over. In spite of the Mayan prediction, the world may continue but G4 will be no more. In honor of Fresh Ink and it’s host Blair Butler on Attack of the Show I wanted to create this new illustration entitled “Queen of Heart”. Not only a comic fan herself, Blair is also a successful indy comic creator with her acclaimed series “Heart” illustrated by Kevin Mellon. Check it out. In 2012 the Cal State Fullerton Visual Arts department curated an art show dedicated to the Science Fiction genre Steampunk. Many talented illustrators and alumni provided artwork for the show including yours truly. Steampunk was the brainchild of CSUF alumni authors James Blaylock, K.W. I was recently asked to submit an image to an art blog. The theme was to take an old Marvel trading card and update the character with your style. I was given Cyclops (one of my favorite x-men characters). Instead of going with the X-Factor style costume I wanted to do something more in line with Bendis’ All-New Xmen.
